Emergency Services

The Emergency Department was newly constructed in 1996. We treat over 23,000 patients here annually. We are equipped to handle emergencies ranging from minor illness and injuries to major trauma and critical medical conditions.

Our Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centers provide high-quality care, along with the compassion Memorial Healthcare Center is known for. Memorial also works closely with the Shiawassee County EMS Network to provide a coordinated approach to delivering high quality care to the ill and injured.

The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, every day. We are staffed with a highly qualified team of physicians, nurses, techs and secretaries. All of the full-time physicians who work in the E.R. are Board Certified. The nursing staff have all received special training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Many of the nursing staff have also received Trauma Nurse Certification.

We work with specialists on-call in all disciplines to meet the needs of every patient. The centralized nursing station allows for better visibility and monitoring of patients in the department. We are equipped with state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring equipment. This allows us to view heart rhythms, blood pressure, and oxygen saturations at the nursing station, regardless of what room our patients are in.

Our professional staff are available to speak on a variety of safety and injury prevention topics in classrooms or at service groups. Contact Vicki Watkins at (800) 206-8706, ext. 1562 for information.
