Behavioral Health



Memorial Healthcare offers personalized programs and services focusing on behavioral health.          

Treatment is provided by psychiatrists, social workers, RN's mental health technicians and recreational therapists and is based on what the patient identifies as treatment needs/goals. Treatment includes assessment, psychopharmacology, education, therapeutic activities and therapy groups. There are also family education and therapy sessions as needed and approved by the patient.

Behavioral Health:

The Behavioral Health Unit is a 16-bed, adult inpatient behavioral health unit. It provides 24-hour per day care to patients who need a safe, supportive environment.

The Behavioral Health accepts patients with a variety of stress related, mental health and/or psychiatric disorders, including:

Patients may stay on the unit an average of three to seven days, or in some circumstances, a longer length of stay may be necessary. Patients are admitted on a voluntary or involuntary basis.

All behavioral health patients participate in a highly structured environment that includes scheduled group activities including therapy, didactic and recreational activities. During a typical inpatient stay, services include medication management; group, individual and activity therapy; and other services as necessary. Aftercare is set up upon a patient's discharge with referrals to other community resources.

The behavioral health staff also provides crisis services to individuals through a 24-hour telephone response system. Proper referrals are made based on the patient's assessed needs and the on-call psychiatrist's recommendations. The number to call for crisis services is 989.725.8101.

In addition, the Behavioral Health Unit staff are able to provide information to those wanting information about area drug and alcohol treatment programs.

Memorial's Behavioral Health Center provides services to all Michigan residents including the counties of Shiawassee, Eaton, Ingham, Saginaw, Genesee, Clinton. We are proud to offer stress related and behavioral health services to communities surrounding Alma, Bay City, Flint, Lansing, Owosso, Saginaw and St. Johns.
