Request for Proposal Update
Memorial Healthcare continues to move forward with its Request for Proposal (RFP) process which began in June 2011.
At this time, formal presentations from Sparrow, McLaren and Covenant have been made to Memorial Healthcare’s Board of Trustees. The Board is scheduled to meet in early February to evaluate the written responses, as well as presentations from each organization, using the Guiding Principles that were previously shared with stakeholders.
According to Tim Gewirtz, Chairman of Memorial Healthcare’s Board of Trustees, “The Board will determine which organization, if any, will proceed to Phase II. If one or more systems are chosen, a confidentiality agreement would be signed with the systems and more intensive due diligence would occur over a four to six month period. If any of the potential partners are not a good fit, the Board can decide at any time to end this exploration process. If the Board determines, after its intensive diligence, that there is an organization that is potentially an ideal partner, then this process would proceed to Phase III, which could take an additional 6-12 months to complete.”
A formal affiliation with a larger system is an opportunity for Memorial Healthcare to grow and provide a wider range of services to meet the needs of our communities. “Memorial Healthcare is in a very strong position. An affiliation or merger is an option; it’s not something we have to do at this point in time, which gives us leverage and power in the process,” adds Gewirtz.
Memorial Healthcare appreciates the community’s interest and support and welcomes any questions or concerns via email at communityinfo@memorialhealthcare.org. In addition, Memorial Healthcare has posted its Guiding Principles on its website at www.memorialhealthcare.org. Regular updates to the community will be provided through a variety of communications including news releases.
