Memorial Healthcare Again Receives Top Patient Care Ratings from Hospital Compare

Memorial Healthcare, an independent, community non-profit hospital in Shiawassee County, continues to excel in patient experience through high-quality care and support, outpacing other Mid-Michigan hospitals, according to new data released by Hospital Compare from its Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Provider (HCAHPS) surveys.

“Safety, quality of care, and patient satisfaction have always been at the forefront of Memorial Healthcare’s model of care. Our staff lives and breathes these values at every touchpoint with our patients. It’s always been our goal to create a healthy environment where our staff and patients can thrive,” said Brian Long, president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare. “I am proud of the Memorial Healthcare team for continuing to deliver excellent service and care year after year. Their steadfast commitment to our patients is a true testament to their resilience in the face of challenges.”

Memorial Healthcare excelled in several areas, outranking other Mid-Michigan Medicare-certified hospitals surveyed in the “Nursing Communication” and “Doctor Communication” categories. The hospital performed significantly better than several far larger Michigan healthcare systems in the “Cleanliness” category. In the “Responsiveness” category, Memorial Healthcare ranked higher than leading national healthcare systems, including the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) manages the Hospital Compare website and rankings, regularly measuring and rating the performance of more than 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals in the United States. Hospitals are judged on various criteria, including staff communications, cleanliness, responsiveness, willingness to recommend, and more.

Memorial Healthcare again received a four-star CMS rating – the only hospital in Mid-Michigan to receive this honor. These ratings follow Memorial Healthcare’s recognition earlier this year as a top ten percent of U.S. hospitals, specifically exceeding in emergency care and mammogram imaging, according to the 2023 Women’s Choice Awards. The hospital continues to diversify its social service offerings through the development of a new, state-of-the-art childcare facility slated to open in August.
