Memorial Healthcare is pleased to announce Tom Kalina, LMSW, a Social Worker/Bereavement Coordinator in our Home Health/Hospice department, has been selected as our April Employee of the Month. Tom has been an employee of Memorial Healthcare since April 1992.
According to his winning nomination, “Tom is not only devoted to his patients but his work family as well. He mentors new staff members and spends so much time after hours setting up appointments and various resources for patients and/or their families. Tom goes the extra mile with everything he does and is fantastic at his job by being able to relate and really listen to patient’s needs.”
Tom lives in Owosso with his dog Hank. He enjoys working out at the Shiawassee YMCA, playing racquetball, and cooking for friends. An interesting fact about Tom is, he has a massive Peanuts (Snoopy, Charlie Brown) collection and he is a published author of a spiritual book of poems titled, “Seasons of the Soul.” Special achievements include receiving Memorial Healthcare’s 2010 President Award and the Joan Mack Award in 1998 and 2018. Tom’s personal outlook is, “We should use our gifts and talents to help others and to keep shining.”
Tom is quoted on being honored as Employee of the Month, “I’ve been proud to work for Memorial Healthcare for the past 30 years. Here’s to the next 30 years!”
