Memorial Healthcare Seeks Supplies; Sewing Talent

Memorial Healthcare is preparing for what is expected to be a critical shortage of necessary supplies to continue to combat the COVID-19 emergency. Memorial is not alone in these efforts as all healthcare facilities are currently struggling with the same issue.  While we continue to pursue all regular sources, including State and Federal emergency resources, they simply do not exist in the quantities likely to be required.  Therefore, we are now seeking alternative ways to make the necessary supplies available to our staff so they can continue to provide quality, safe care for our patients and community.

Currently one of our most pressing needs is that of additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  This includes face masks, respirators, protective shields, gowns, etc.  So what can you do?  Please consider the following:

  • If you have any commercially manufactured PPE which you are willing to donate or sell, please contact us at one of the numbers provided below.
  • If you are willing to contribute your time and efforts, Memorial has purchased supplies to create our own face masks for use during this shortage. Assembling these masks will require many hands and we are seeking individuals with sewing skills that would be willing to assist our volunteers with this production.  If you are willing to help, supplies can be dropped off to you at your home or any convenient location.  Specific direction will be provided with regard to design and construction.  When completed, there will be collection bins right outside the front doors of Memorial’s front lobby for you to drop off the completed masks or we can make arrangements to pick them up at another location.  The masks will then be inspected and cleaned before being distributed to our care givers.

If you would like to participate in either of these valuable tasks, please contact Memorial Healthcare at our main number (989) 723-5211, or Becky Dahlke, Community Resource Manager at (989) 729-4856 for more information.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our employees on the front lines safe. It is greatly appreciated!
