Founder’s Day Luncheon a SuccessJune 30, 2017
A COMMITMENT TO SERVICE was the message from Memorial Healthcare Board of Trustees Chairperson Tony Young at the annual Memorial Healthcare Founder’s Day luncheon on Tuesday, May 31st in the Mitchell Auditorium on the Main Campus in Owosso.
The luncheon brought together members of the hospital and community to celebrate their yearly accomplishments and to recognize the hospitals 96th anniversary. “Our mission today remains the same as it did in 1921, to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare in our region. We continue to care for individuals, families, and communities through our commitment to service excellence, teamwork, and innovation,” said Young.
During the luncheon Young stated the importance of volunteers to the oversight and direction of Memorial Healthcare and recognized new and retiring members of the Memorial Healthcare Board of Trustees. “Each of these individuals exemplifies the highest standards of a Trustee and community leader while fully supporting the Mission and Vision of Memorial Healthcare.” said Young.
Young also presented to the audience, Memorial’s pursuit of strategic partnerships with other hospitals and highlighted the new Memorial Institute for Neurosciences & Multiple Sclerosis and their research to provide the most advanced therapeutic treatments available in the country to those patients with relapsing forms of Multiple Sclerosis.
President of the Memorial Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors, Cindy Schluckebier also spoke at the luncheon and informed the assemblage about the generosity of the more than 1,100 individual and organizational donors who contributed $1,435,000 in 2016 to assist in funding several vital initiatives at Memorial Healthcare. The renovation and redesign of the Emergency Department was presented along with highlights from the Going to a Higher Level Campaign, which actively fundraised $1,275,000 towards the Emergency Department renovations.
“It is my privilege to say, thank you for providing a facility where life-saving and life- changing care is provided each and every day,” said Schluckebier.

Long, FACHE, concluded the luncheon by stating, “Memorial Healthcare is a great healthcare organization with outstanding providers across a broad spectrum of services, a board of trustees whom embrace our mission and vision, dedicated employees, and compassionate volunteers.
