In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Memorial Healthcare’s Gastroenterology Center will be offering Saturday appointments for patients requiring a screening colonoscopy on March 18 and April 22.

Additionally, Owosso’s Wrought Iron Grill and Greg and Lou’s have launched discount coupons for those individuals who have a colonoscopy procedure performed at the Memorial Gastroenterology Center during the month of March. The Wrought Iron Grill is offering a coupon for a 25% discount off a lunch menu item and Greg and Lou’s is offering  20% off a meal (coupons must be used by April 30).

The Memorial Gastroenterology Center team uses the latest digital equipment, and its Endoscopy Lab is one of the most advanced in the State of Michigan. Over 4,200 endoscopy patients are served each year at Memorial Healthcare.

This year, over 135,000 people will be diagnosed with colon and rectal cancers and over 50,000 will die of the disease. As the third leading cause of death in the U.S., we are happy to note that the number of new colorectal cancer cases, and the number of deaths from colorectal cancer, are both decreasing each year.

People who have no identified risk factors (other than age) should begin regular screening at age 50. Those who have a family history or other risk factors for colorectal polyps or cancer, such as inflammatory bowel disease, should talk to their doctor about starting screening at a younger age and/or being screened more frequently.

To schedule your colonoscopy, please contact your primary care provider.
