MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE CENTER FOR ORTHOPEDICS HAS MOVED! 

Memorial Healthcare Center for Orthopedics, including Podiatry and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, has moved to the NOW Building on Memorial Healthcare’s main campus!  

With this move, our two Owosso-based orthopedic offices have combined under one roof! In addition, Dr. Rory Cocks, board certified podiatrist, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation providers, Dr. Gary Branch and Dr. Ogo Azuh, have joined this location! Welcome to Memorial Healthcare Center for Orthopedics! Doctors Ashraf Elbanna, Ramy Kurdi, Joseph Palazeti, Michael Schmidt, and Brett Walker and Certified Physician Assistants Derrick Jauss and Michael Smith, are pleased to provide you with the most up-to-date orthopedic and sports medicine treatment and surgical options.

Ashraf Elbanna, MD earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed a residency in orthopedics from Henry Ford Hospital. He is fellowship trained by the Cleveland Clinic and has worked with national sports teams including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, University of Notre Dame, and Marygrove College.


Ramy Kurdi, DO  earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency through Michigan State University at McLaren-Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI. Dr. Kurdi’s training includes orthopedic trauma surgery, pediatric orthopedics, total joint reconstruction, and sports medicine. Dr. Kurdi is also an active member of the NFL-Players Association Mackey-White Health & Safety Committee.


Joseph Palazeti, DO earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Palazeti is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery.


Michael Schmidt, DO, FAAOS, FAOAO earned his medical degree from The College of Osteopathic Medicine of The Pacific and completed his residency at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Schmidt is board certified and has earned two Fellowships from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.


Brett Walker, DO earned his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI and obtained his Fellowship in Spine Surgery from the University of Washington. 


Derrick Jauss, PA-C, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Adrian College and his Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Central Michigan University. Derrick serves as surgical first assist with Dr. Kurdi.


Michael Smith, PA-C works closely with Drs. Joseph Palazeti and Michael Schmidt in providing expert care for orthopedic patients.


Orthopedic services are supported by the latest diagnostic imaging, CT-Scan and MRI technology. Surgery is performed utilizing traditional and advanced, minimally invasive techniques. The credentials and experience of these surgeons allows Memorial to offer some of the most sophisticated medical procedures in the world.
