Memorial Healthcare Issues Best Practices for COVID-19 CareMarch 13, 2020
Memorial Healthcare is following the latest information and recommendations by federal and statewide authorities regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus).
In order to provide the community with the safest and highest quality care, the hospital is asking all potential patients and visitors to follow these important guidelines:
- Designated Alternate Care Site: Memorial Healthcare has established an Alternate Care Site for those individuals experiencing mild to moderate flu-like symptoms, such as fever or cough. This location will be operational on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 7:00 am. The Alternate Care Site is located on the main campus of Memorial Healthcare, 826 W. King Street, Owosso, at the South Auditorium entrance (facing King Street). If you are experiencing severe symptoms, such as extreme shortness of breath, we ask that you call 911 or proceed to your local emergency department.
- New visitor policies: Memorial Healthcare has implemented a more rigid visitor restriction policy as part of our COVID-19 preparation plan. Only immediate family members deemed absolutely necessary by the patient’s healthcare team will be allowed to visit, even if visitors are healthy and meet age requirements. Existing visitation restrictions apply to all children age 12 and under unless they are present for a service. Nursing staff and attending physicians will work with families who have special circumstances, such as a critically ill or injured family member, on a case-by-case basis.
- Additional precautionary measures: Memorial Healthcare is taking precautionary measures such as the suspension of group and public events hosted at the hospital until further notice. Additional preparation of supplies, resources, staff and isolation areas have been completed and are ready to activate as needed.
