Memorial Healthcare Lab Receives CAP Accreditation

January 16, 2019

Memorial Healthcare is pleased to announce their recent accreditation from the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for their laboratory. Memorial Healthcare is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

“The laboratory is proud to have met the high standards which are set by the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program. The accuracy of the testing performed by the Memorial Healthcare Laboratory benefits the patients we serve and helps guide their providers to ensure accurate diagnoses,” said Nicholas Decker, MLS (ASCP), Laboratory Director.

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.

“This is a fabulous achievement by our Laboratory, and reflects our passion for delivering high quality care,” adds Decker.

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
