Memorial Healthcare Offers New Technology for Lumpectomy Patients

Memorial Healthcare has expanded its partnership with Hologic, Inc. by implementing the Hologic LOCalizer™ Wireless Breast Lesion Localization System for lumpectomy cases. Our surgical and diagnostic imaging teams (including our general surgeons and the Advanced Radiology Services (ARS) radiologists) collaborated on bringing this technology to patients of Memorial Healthcare.

“The Hologic LOCalizer™ Wireless Breast Lesion Localization System is monumental for breast care at Memorial Healthcare in terms of patient comfort, convenience, and outcomes. It provides patients with more flexibility in scheduling and less discomfort with great cosmetic results. It also eliminates the possibility of wire displacement and transection associated with wire localization. We are very excited to be teaming up with Hologic to make this technology available to our patients,” said Dr. Sasha Spencley, Surgeon at Memorial Healthcare Surgical Associates.

Use of the Hologic LOCalizer™ will significantly enhance both the patient experience and make breast localization procedures easier for surgeons and care teams for better overall care and outcomes.

Additionally, the Memorial Healthcare Mammography team and our ARS partners were recently awarded the coveted gold seal of approval by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for being a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This seal renews our accreditation for 3 years and affirms the quality work we deliver with mammography care. Being recognized by industry leaders for excellence in meeting or exceeding patient care standards is the highest designation available through the ACR.
