Memorial Healthcare Volunteer Retires After 50 Years of ServiceJuly 15, 2021
Phyllis Haas, a Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary volunteer will retire after 50 years of dedicated service. Phyllis will work her last shift at the Four Seasons Gift Shop on Monday, July 19th from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
Phyllis began her volunteer career in 1971 in the gift shop after her children grew up. “Florence Dignan, who was the manager of the gift shop at the time encouraged me to volunteer,” said Phyllis. “In the beginning the gift shop was in the main lobby when you walked in the door. It later moved to where the Public Safety office is now and then moved again to its current location.”
Phyllis has four children, two girls and two boys. Two of her children live close by. She is also the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Now that she’s retiring, Phyllis is looking forward to spending more time with her family and enjoying her favorite hobbies which include reading and jigsaw puzzles.
“I have loved working at Memorial Healthcare and am going to miss talking with the many visitors that came into the gift shop and the other volunteers I worked with,” said Phyllis. “I highly encourage other who are retiring to consider volunteering at Memorial Healthcare.”
