Celebrated the last full week in January, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) honors nurse anesthetists around the country by sponsoring National Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Week. The week-long annual event honors the nation’s 52,000+ Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and student registered nurse anesthetists who safely provide approximately 43 million anesthetics each year.
According to the AANA, nurse anesthetists practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered. They work in hospitals, delivery rooms, dentist offices, pain management clinics, and many other healthcare facilities. Nurse anesthetists are highly educated registered nurses who specialize in the administration of anesthesia. Upon completion of their nurse anesthesia program and certification test, CRNAs are required to take continuing education classes and pass a recertification exam every 2 years.
This year’s theme, "Every BREATH, Every BEAT, Every SECOND, WE ARE THERE," celebrates nurse anesthetist professionals and emphasizes patient safety and the level of care that CRNAs give each and every patient. Nurse anesthetists are essential to America’s healthcare system by providing anesthesia care to patients for over 150 years, states the AANA. These highly trained professionals were the main providers of anesthesia care to U.S. military personnel on the front lines of World War I, including current conflicts in the Middle East.
Memorial Healthcare congratulates our Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and celebrates their commitment to providing patients with exceptional care. These are outstanding healthcare professionals who provide the safest anesthesia possible by ensuring each patient is given a comfortable and safe anesthesia experience. Thank you for all you do!
