The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) recognizes a distinction between a sleep laboratory and accredited Sleep Disorder Centers, such as the Memorial Sleep Center. An accredited sleep disorder center is a comprehensive or full-service sleep disorder program that must be prepared to provide adequate evaluation and follow-up care of patients with a vareity of sleep disorders. In contrast, a sleep laboratory provides diagnostic services for sleep disorders but only offers follow-up for sleep-disordered breathing, such as Sleep Apnea.
