Memorial Healthcare physical therapy clinic staff test, measure and improve the function of the musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular systems. Therapy includes the application of heat, cold, and electrical modalities and therapeutic exercises, including the state-of-the-art computerized BTE and Med-X systems as well as the Biodex Balance System. Therapists are also very involved in hand therapy and sports medicine, vestibular rehab and aquatic therapy.
Physical therapy and occupational therapy services are available for hospital inpatients at the main hospital.

AQUATIC POOL THERAPY: The soothing effects of water therapy can play a significant role in reducing pain and accelerating recovery time. Water-based physical therapy can often begin more quickly following an injury or surgical procedure, allowing patients to regain mobility faster than ever before. The pool assists patients who suffer from a wide variety of conditions including knee replacement, chronic pain, lower back pain or balance deficiencies.

Occupational Therapy helps to improve and maintain daily skills such as eating, dressing and working. Functional training is offered for cognitive and perceptual skills, hand rehabilitation and motor losses. Occupational Therapy also supplies splints and necessary adaptive equipment to allow patients to readapt to daily living. Inpatient services are available at Memorial Healthcare Center.
SPORTS MEDICINE: Memorial Healthcare is proud to partner with area schools to provide athletic trainer services on and off the playing field and in our rehabilitation clinics.In some area high schools, athletic trainers work with players during practices and are available at games to provide valuable support to athletes and to provide injury assessment if needed. Memorial trainers utilize the same concussion safety assessment program used by the Big Ten and NHL. In the Fall, Memorial offers a Saturday morning Sports Clinic. For more information about Saturday
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS & PARKINSON'S EXERCISE: A low-impact exercise program specifically geared for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson's Disease. Group meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. or from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. The cost is $35 per month. Each class is designed specifically for the functioning level of the participant. SENIOR EXERCISE GROUPS: Two separate senior exercise groups are available and meet weekly. Group one meets at the Durand Senior Center on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. and on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Another group meets on Wednesdays each week at the Chesaning Senior Center from 11 a.m. until 12 noon.
Health & Fitness Programs
Health & Fitness Program: Memorial Healthcare invites you to join our popular Health & Fitness exercise program where you will learn how to improve your overall health and have fun, too. The Health & Fitness program is facilitated by a Certified Athletic Trainer who will help you develop an exercise program for your specific needs.
Others like yourself have found that the Heart & Fitness program has helped them to address health issues such as being overweight, having high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol levels, reducing risk factors for heart disease, back pain and other balance disturbances.
Through valuable one-on-one interaction, you will experience the benefits of improving your health while achieving your personal goals. In addition to exercise supervision, the athletic trainer works with you during each and every session to help you modify your routine so that you get the most out each session (at no additional cost). We also offer a 25% discount to relatives attending Health & Fitness sessions together.
Getting Started - Before your initial session, we will assist you in obtaining written clearance from your physician to exercise. Then, an overall assessment will be conducted by our qualified staff that will be used to develop a customized exercise regimen for your needs.
